Tiq shares his lived experience as a transgender man and how it shapes his perspectives on masculinity, race, and gender. He travels across North America to lead transformative conversations on healthy masculinity, inclusive leadership, and effective communication.
Tiq has inspired audiences at institutions like Harvard, Stanford, and Brown, advocating for using inclusion as a tool for innovation and sharing practical strategies for meaningful interactions.
His powerful storytelling extends to platforms like The Moth, where he shares intimate narratives of love, identity, and transition. Tiq also travels with The Moth sharing his story of love and transition. He’s performed in over 24 cities in the US and has twice in London.
Inclusive Media Consultant and Host
He is a sought-after host and strategic media consultant. He’s moderated conversations about LGBT representation in media for HBO’s Newfest Film Festival, The Toronto Film Festival, LOGO and MTV. He’s hosted authors in conversation at The Schomburg Center for Research, and Harlem’s Apollo Theater; as well as NYU and Princeton. Tiq is an Executive Producer on the critically acclaimed and GLAAD award winning documentary, Beyond Aggressives: 25 Years Later.
As a media consultant, he guides organizations and companies in creating detailed media campaigns that engage diverse audiences in ways that are inclusive and authentic. He’s worked with HBO, NBC News and various film and television producers on the rollout of several projects including the HBO’s Suited and Netflix’s The Death and Life of Marsha P Johnson. He also featured in Netflix’s acclaimed documentary Disclosure and GAP’s Global Pride Family campaign.
Tiq also served as the Senior Media Strategist and National Spokesperson for GLAAD using data driven strategies to engage various media in appropriate and honest LGBTQ representation and creative direction.
Cultural Influencer and Writer
Tiq writes about pop culture, inclusive leadership, transgender rights and equity. A journalist for over a decade his work has appeared on Buzzfeed, NBC and CNN among others. He has been a guest on several podcasts, including The Read, Fierce Love and The Clay Cane Show. His 2016 TED Talk “A Queer Vision of Love and Marriage” has been viewed over 3 million times and continues to inform and inspire people all over the world.
He also sits on the board of The American LGBTQ Museum, The LGBT Center and The Trans Genome Project at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
